Gold exploration in Brazil has long depended on the ability to investigate beneath the surface, where mineralized structures, fracture zones, and alteration halos may be buried under overburden or weathered rock. For geologists and mining operators working in this environment, the central challenge is not simply finding anomalies, but finding them efficiently and with enough confidence to guide follow-up drilling. This is the context in which Geomative positions its resistivity and induced polarization (IP) imaging systems, including the GD-32 12-Channel DC Resistivity and IP System, as part of a broader geophysical toolkit.
Why Deep Gold Exploration Demands Precision Instrumentation
Traditional engineering and mineral surveys in remote or geologically complex terrain face several recurring pain points. Field data collection is often inefficient, construction and logistics costs are high, and signal quality can deteriorate in deep exploration settings or high-resistance geological environments. Compounding this, exploration teams may lack timely field quality control, meaning questionable measurements are not identified until after demobilization, leading to costly return visits.
Geomative describes itself as a provider of spatial intelligence technology and equipment specializing in geophysical instruments and digital subsurface solutions, with the proposition of “Making Subsurface Information Clearer and More Reliable.” Its approach combines configurable acquisition hardware with workflows linking field collection, desktop interpretation, and digital collaboration.
GD-32: Technical Profile for Resistivity and IP Surveys
Within the published GD-12/GD-22/GD-32 comparison, GD-32 is the 12-channel model. This is a main-unit specification rather than a limit on the capacity of an expanded survey system.
Multi-Channel Architecture for Field Productivity
The GD-32 provides 12 receive channels for parallel acquisition where the measurement sequence permits it. Its maximum transmitter ratings are 15kW, 1500V, and 10A.
Maximum supported electrode count and simultaneous receive-channel count are separate specifications. Usable output depends on the complete field configuration, including the power supply, cables, switching devices, and field load. Additional channels can improve acquisition productivity, but do not independently increase investigation depth or spatial resolution.
Full-Waveform Acquisition and Data Integrity
The GD-32 supports full-waveform acquisition for recorded-signal review and processing. It features 24-bit A/D conversion, a 140dB dynamic range, and selectable 50Hz/60Hz power-line rejection of at least 120dB.
These specifications support acquisition and quality review. Actual weak-signal performance still depends on field noise, electrode contact, survey geometry, acquisition settings, and target properties.
Proven Track Record in Gold Ore Exploration
Geomative’s resistivity and IP systems have been applied to gold ore exploration under field conditions. In one documented project in Brazil, electrical resistivity and induced polarization surveys were used to investigate potential mineralization-related anomalies and support follow-up exploration planning.
That project used GD-10, not GD-32. It provides context for the application of electrical methods in Brazilian gold exploration, but is not direct evidence of GD-32 performance. Geophysical anomalies alone do not confirm gold mineralization or mineral resources.
For programs requiring more simultaneous receive channels, GD-32 can be compared with single-channel configurations against the proposed measurement sequence and acquisition workload. Transmitter requirements should be assessed separately: a single-channel designation does not, by itself, establish lower transmission power. Larger grids, deeper targets, and shorter acquisition windows each place different demands on survey design.
Geomative’s broader application experience also includes a GT-30 transient electromagnetic survey at a lead-zinc mine in Beishan, Hechi, Guangxi, China. That case combined geological information with interpretation of mineral-related and groundwater-related anomalies, with subsequent exposure verification reported. The result applies to the TEM application described and should not be attributed to GD-series resistivity and IP equipment.
From Field to Interpretation: DIGspace Integration
Hardware alone does not complete the exploration workflow. Geomative’s DIGspace platform provides an environment for 3D visualization, multi-source data integration, and collaboration. Supported ERT, GPR, and drilling data can be brought into a shared spatial environment, helping teams consider geological, geophysical, and engineering information together.
DIGspace supports ERT processing and inversion through corresponding modules, alongside desktop analysis and web collaboration. Buyers should confirm GD-32 data import, processing, and export using representative files and the intended software version.
Multi-source visualization does not, by itself, establish support for joint inversion. Specific import formats, export formats, and inversion capabilities depend on the method module and software version selected.
Industry Adaptation Beyond Gold
The resistivity and IP imaging product line serves a wider set of applications: groundwater investigation through electrical characterization of subsurface structures, dam and tailing pond monitoring for possible seepage-related anomalies, urban underground space investigation, landfill leakage investigation, and archaeological work such as foundation depth and basement interface surveys.
Ground, tunnel, borehole, and underwater or marine surveys require compatible accessories and appropriate configurations. Suitability for one environment should not be inferred solely from the instrument’s general product description.
Responsible Interpretation: What Resistivity Data Can and Cannot Tell You
A balanced view of resistivity and IP results is essential for exploration teams making investment decisions. Electrical and IP anomalies detected by systems such as GD-32 support geological interpretation and target selection, helping geologists prioritize follow-up investigation. However, confirmation of mineralization, groundwater presence, leakage, or other subsurface conditions requires appropriate geological, drilling, sampling, inspection, or engineering verification. Geophysical data supports decisions; it is not standalone proof of mineral resources.
For exploration teams in Brazil and elsewhere, GD-32 offers a documented equipment option built around multi-channel acquisition, full-waveform recording, and supported digital processing workflows. Geomative reports customers in more than 50 countries and regions, but that company-wide figure does not establish GD-32 deployment or local support availability in a particular market.
A procurement review should therefore combine model-specific specifications with a representative acquisition and processing demonstration, appropriate field quality checks, and confirmed technical-support arrangements.
